Communication is so vital in every person’s life. It is our
sword, our pen and our breath. It is our sword to fight our enemies and combat
our oppressor. It is our pen, the Ink that we need to write our history, to
claim our spot on whom we are in this world. It is also our own breath, so
precious, that in every minute of our life, we depend on them. These are some
of the wisdom that I’ve learned watching the
movie “THE KING’S SPEECH”. It greatly portrays the importance of our voice and
its implication in maintaining our power as a person and as a leader. The story
is all about the emotional and hard-breaking life of King Gorge VI of United
Kingdom and the Northern Ireland. It is a story about how the soon-to-be king
will be able to deliver his own speech to his people. So easy as it may seem to
a normal person, but there is this one big problem that the king have, He has a
stuttering disorder. As a royal blood and the king of his country, He is their
leader, the man they look up to, the man that represents their voice. So, the
burden that the king has to carry is, how will he make his people stand firm
and strong in the midst of crying times. The king needs to break his emotional
barriers between his own fears of public speaking and to stand boldly for his
people, to be their voice.
This film also shows us that, there are some things we can do
easily without putting much so effort, like talking, but for others, it is a
great problem that no matter what they do, they just can’t seem to do it right.
It shows us how to not take for granted everything that we have or what we can
do. Maybe we cannot do anything in this lifetime, but we can do something that
may help others and things that may help us grow as a person and as a citizen.
It’s very painful to watch how the movie depicts some of our real life struggle
that we face from other people that may bully us because of our wrongness,
imperfections, though it may seem to them that we are weak, We are in many ways
tougher, braver, and stronger than them.
At some point in our time, we are like the king. We may
thought that we can’t do the things that we wanted to do, or perhaps we thought
that we can’t ever achieve our greatest dreams in life. But if there is one
thing that we need to realize is that, it only takes courage, bravery and
confidence to move forward. This movie moved me in so many ways. It greatly
instilled in me that those people that has a stuttering problem is living a
life of uncertainty, fear and doubt. It was done with the feeling that someone
is trying to convey, to shout and bleed wanting you to hear them. Mental and
learning disorders aren’t caused by weakness, but they can overcome by
strength.
